ætherplough: present
We present out-of-town performance work to add context and content to our growing community of multi-disciplinary artists in order to engage Omaha in the national contemporary performance dialogue.
ætherplough is very pleased to present and original dance performance by San Francisco-based choreographer and performer, Shinichi Iova-Koga founder of inkBoat performance company. Integrating traditional and experimental movement art, his works have been performance internationally. Now, he brings his talent, described as being at the forefront of a new generation, to Omaha on February 18. The performance will also include live, improvised music by ætherplough cellist, April Faith-Slaker.
Thank you to Karl Larson, pianist and Amanda DeBoer, vocalist for the wonderful Messiaen performance at the Omaha Conservatory of Music.
ætherplough: is pleased to present Messiaen, an evening of contemporary music and conversation featuring the work of the composer Olivier Messiaen, best known for his extensive use of birdsong in his compositions. Visiting artist, Karl Larson, will be joined by ætherplough collaborator, Amanda DeBoer in a program of piano and voice that explores the exquisite beauty and power of Messiaen.
A post-performance talk back will provide the opportunity to discuss Messiaen's harmonic language, how he inspired composers who came after him, his synesthetic tendencies, and, of course, bird song.
Messiaen is presented in preparation for ætherplough’s original performance, The Archeology of Birdsong (tentatively scheduled for summer 2013).
