Yes, the answer has always been yes. Because I do love Omaha and I do care about the Omaha art scene immensely. That was why I accepted the position as Artistic Director of ætherplough in January.
Yes, I live in Chicago. And, Yes, I live in Omaha, too.
In Chicago, I get the chance to work as a full-time actor. My agent sends me to auditions and I go to them because that’s what actors do. I’m lucky to be cast in productions and get enough work to pay my bills. I’m lucky to collaborate with many different theaters and many talented individuals. I am happy as a working actor in Chicago.
In Omaha, I get the chance to create and show new work to Omaha audiences. I was fortunate to be included as one of ætherplough's collaborators from the very beginning. I love the people. I love the work. The sense of new, but yet old and familiar sensation, while we collaborate, entices me. The feeling of raw authenticity and the deep willingness, while we create, enriches me. I am fulfilled as a collaborative seeker in Omaha.
It’s never about fame. It’s never about ego. It’s about the people, both the artists and the audience. That is why continuing the type of work ætherplough has generated since its inception is extremely important to me. That is why I am in Chicago. That is why I am in Omaha. To collaborate.
